Ten Commmandments of HR

10 Commandments of HR
  1. BE ALERT TO GIVE SERVICE. SPEAK TO PEOPLE

Communicate. Don’t glare. Don’t bury the lead. Don’t hesitate. Don’t whisper. Don’t stare. Don’t wait. Don’t hide what you mean. Speak To Others. It’s simple. You have something to say, and another person is interested in listening. Just say it. If they’re worth saying it to and the words you are about to speak are worth it, you won’t need to explain yourself or what you’re talking about. You won’t have to be afraid of what other people are saying. Doing this will make communicating a million times easier and more enjoyable for everyone involved.

  1. SMILE AT PEOPLE

You might not feel like it at this stage in your life, today, this time of the month, or whatever—but believe me, you have something to be happy about. Smile. Please. It will make others so glad to see you and make you more comfortable.

  1. CALL PEOPLE BY NAME

Our names have more power than we think. In an article I recently read, the author discussed how we pick up on the emotions the person saying our name is experiencing. Call someone else’s name with a smile and an attitude of joy. Recognize them. Acknowledge them in a positive light—and they’ll remember it. It might even change their whole day. When we call someone by name, we validate them, telling them they are essential if we say it right. Learn other’s names and use them. Our name defines who we are—and we want it to be accepted by others.

  1. BE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL

This one goes hand in hand with all of the other ones. Be a friend to all. Keep your eyes and ears open for opportunities to make others’ lives better.

  1. BE CORDIAL

What does cordial mean? I hope you know. Just kidding. Cordial, by definition, means to be warm and friendly. We could all work on being warmer. Sure, we’re nice and friendly, but it needs to be that way ALL of the time, not just with the people we like.

I have a challenge for you. Any time you see a stranger in a restaurant, on the street, anywhere, smile at them. Affirm them. Make their day better. Be warm with everyone.

  1. BE GENUINELY INTERESTED IN OTHER PEOPLE

The person you’re talking to might be talking about the most boring thing on the planet that you know nothing about. Thankfully, I’ve rarely ever been put in this sort of situation. Either way, there’s a cure. Get interested.

  1. BE GENEROUS WITH PRAISE—CAUTIOUS WITH CRITICISM.
  2. BE CONSIDERATE OF THE FEELINGS OF OTHERS.
  3. BE CONSIDERATE OF THE FEELINGS OF OTHERS.
  4. BE ALERT TO GIVE SERVICE.
